Starbolta started when one of our daycare kids showed up wearing a cheap polyester superhero cape that fell apart after just a couple of days. He was absolutely heartbroken.So my mom and I dusted off an old sewing machine and made him a better one—soft, sturdy, crafted from premium cotton and wool felt, and built for real superhero adventures.Of course, once the other kids saw it, everyone wanted one. So we got to work.Those capes survived playground missions, dramatic rescues, daily wear, and more trips through the washing machine than we can count. Before long, parents started asking where they could buy one for birthday gifts.And just like that, Starbolta was born.Today, every cape, mask, and cuff is still handmade in California by the same mother-and-daughter team who made that very first cape—with the hope that every child gets to feel like a superhero.
